Bronze

  • Lowest monthly premium

  • Highest costs when you require medical care

  • Deductibles, or the amount you pay before your insurance plan starts covering costs, can be substantial

  • This plan is a good option if you want a cost-effective way to protect yourself in case of severe illness or injury, but expect to pay for routine care out of pocket

Silver

  • Moderate monthly premium

  • Moderate costs when you require medical care

  • The deductibles, or the amount you pay before your insurance plan starts covering costs, are generally lower compared to Bronze plans

  • This plan is a good option if you qualify for additional savings or if you are willing to pay a slightly higher monthly premium to have more of your routine care covered

Gold

  • High monthly premium

  • Low costs when you require medical care

  • The deductibles, or the amount you pay before your insurance plan starts covering costs, are generally low

  • This plan is a good option if you are willing to pay more per month in order to have more of your costs covered when you receive medical treatment. If you frequently require medical care, a Gold plan may be a good value

Platinum

  • Highest monthly premium

  • Lowest costs when you require medical care

  • The deductibles, or the amount you pay before your insurance plan starts covering costs, are very low which means that your plan starts paying its share earlier than other types of plans

  • This plan is a good option if you frequently use medical care and are willing to pay a high monthly premium in exchange for nearly all other costs being covered

Additionally, there are also catastrophic plans which are available for people under 30 or those who are eligible for a hardship exemption.
