Medicare Advantage

What is Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage, also known as Part C, is an alternative way to receive Medicare benefits. It is offered by private insurance companies that contract with Medicare to provide all of an individual's Medicare Part A and Part B benefits. Medicare Advantage plans often include additional benefits and services, such as routine dental and vision care, that are not covered by Original Medicare. Some Medicare Advantage plans may also offer additional benefits like wellness programs, gym memberships, and transportation assistance.

To enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, an individual must be enrolled in both Medicare Part A and Part B and must live in the plan's service area. Enrollees in Medicare Advantage plans receive their care from a network of providers, and the plans typically have copays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums.

NOTE

To enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, an individual must be enrolled in both Medicare Part A and Part B and must live in the plan's service area. Enrollees in Medicare Advantage plans receive their care from a network of providers, and the plans typically have copays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums. Medicare Advantage plans may have different out-of-pocket costs and provider networks than Original Medicare, so it's important to compare plans and choose one that meets your needs and budget.

Medicare Advantage plans are required to provide at least the same level of coverage as Original Medicare, but they may have different rules, costs, and restrictions. It is important for individuals to carefully review their options and consider their personal healthcare needs before enrolling in a Medicare Advantage plan.
